One Word – Excellence.

This kaupapa is an expression of excellence in education. The expectations of the ākonga is high. This kaupapa is a special character school that embraces Māori tikanga and the use of fluent te reo Māori in a way that is natural and bursting with pride. 

 

Every ākonga starts the day at 7:30am with conditioning and ends the school day at 2pm with training. Needless to say, the ākonga work hard. To celebrate their hard work, they are well fed with a delicious chef made breakfast and lunch, which mind you, they contribute to with an annual goods and services fee. 

 

There is a full school briefing to kick off academia for the school day and it is a joy to come together in the mornings. Some mornings with waiata and dance, the energy is electric. I have been personally touched by the level of respect I have been shown on several occasions from ākonga offering to do the dishes, give me their seat, or let me go first. The ākonga are keen to learn and full of potential. The Visual Art ākonga are very talented and have mana embedded into their art work.
